so you want to start a podcast here's some facts for you fact one 90% of podcasts don't get past episode 3 fact two of those left about 90% quit before 20 episodes fact three do you only need to publish 21 episodes to become a top 1% podcast in the world as you can probably tell this is both a blessing and a curse however if you're just blindly chasing goals without having a robust process to support you you are doomed to become another statistic my goal here is to prevent that from happening in this episode I share all my learnings that saw me grow to 1.5000 subscribers and 130,000 views on YouTube slow boring consistent growth but growth nevertheless here's the promise at the end of this episode you will have all the tools and knowledge to release your first or 10th or 50th episode after the first episode it's just a function of

00:00:55

first episode it's just a function of consistently iterating and getting just 1% better with each episode The whole chapter outline is designed to be super dense so feel free to pause here and check out everything that we're going to cover I wanted to make no assumptions and start at the point where all you know is that you want a podcast you don't even have your theme defined you know nothing else if you do know your theme just feel free to continue from chapter 3 you only need a couple hours every week and zero cost to start you don't need to touch any video editing software at all in keeping with that theme of learning from somebody that's just two steps ahead of us instead of an expert my goal is to share with you you

00:01:30

expert my goal is to share with you you how easy it is to start and scale your podcast in 2025 this is my first solo cast episode so please do let me know in the comments what you like did not like and how I can make these better this is The Ready Set do podcast and to support it subscribe on YouTube and all your favorite podcast apps and now without any further Ado let's dive in Welcome to The Ready Set do podcast where we learn from journeys of not experts who are just two steps ahead of us so the thing about starting a podcast in 2025 is that if you're just doing it for the quick bucks to get really famous or to get a lot of subscribers and Kickstart your creator Economy based

00:02:10

Kickstart your creator Economy based Journey the problem with that is it's not as simple as that it takes a little bit longer than that if you're trying to just grow organically without pumping money into ads and all of that funky stuff the main point I'm trying to make here is that unless you really enjoy it I think you will struggle in trying to get it off the ground but that's just my take right I'm just an not expert at this so take whatever I say with a grain of salt here my personal want to make this was informed by the fact that I just love YouTube I've lived on YouTube for the last 10 years of my life and I kind of always knew that I definitely

00:02:43

kind of always knew that I definitely wanted to do something and then when I got the chance I was like what better way to kick this off than by talking with people that are not experts at various things given that I'm just a really curious person just by Nature I figured it would be imperative for me to have the these conversations which I would have enjoyed anyway even if there wasn't a camera recording this and I think that's the first biggest lesson I want you to take away from this whatever you decide your Niche to be just ask yourself the following question would you enjoy talking about that stuff if there was no camera recording you and if the answer is no then it's not your Niche and you will probably not make it so why did I choose specifically this area or Freddy said Do Well I talk to

00:03:30

area or Freddy said Do Well I talk to not experts well it's simple the first thing is most podcasts out there are just trying to sell you lottery tickets just because it worked for Elon Musk and he made his first Millions doesn't mean it will work for you and when I hear him talk it just tells me nothing about what to do right now like good for you you did all of that cool stuff but I want to do that too but where do I begin don't get me wrong they're great for inspiration right it's so cool to hear these amazing people talk about overc such insane odds when they make it but the fact remains that it's really not that helpful when you're starting out

00:04:07

that helpful when you're starting out and you just want to get from Step Zero to 1 and two so that was the Gap that I was trying to fill personally just because I found there was no other podcast that was doing that so I figured why not take the plunge the key takeaway from this first section is that literally anyone with a voice and an internet connection can and should start a podcast contrary to what you think your opinions and your thoughts that that have been informed by your entire life do in fact have value and it makes sense to put them out in the world just because it doesn't even need to be for a

00:04:39

because it doesn't even need to be for a reason you can just share your thoughts there's absolutely nothing wrong with that so that brings us to chapter 2 which is identifying your theme what is that one thing that you have spent hours of your life thinking about talking about and are willing to spend another thousand hours talking about if nothing immediately jumps out to you I highly recommend the book master by Robert Green it goes over what you used to do when you were a child that you could just do for hours on end without even realizing that you were doing something chances are your theme or nishe has something to do with these things that you used to do in your childhood before you were corrupted by society and your parents and I don't mean that in a bad

00:05:19

parents and I don't mean that in a bad negative way but really before your character was tarnished and Stamped Out by the world that youve grew up sometimes people choose to do open-ended podcasts which are fine but usually it helps to get a balance between educative and entertaining you could obviously steer completely on either direction my gripe with going the entertaining way is that it can be really hit or miss because if you're just you know a relatively lesser known person just pouting your opinions about politics or whatnot that can just take a little longer for you to grow in terms of having a real tangible value attached you also definitely want to figure out your target audience to be fair I haven't even figured out mine yet so it this isn't that important but if you can think of one or two key sectors of

00:06:05

think of one or two key sectors of society that you feel like would enjoy listening to your conversation just think of an age range um a demographic male female whatever comes to mind roughly is the goal here is just to identify that there are people out there that might potentially be interested in this if your Niche is too small don't worry about that that's actually a great thing you always want to start with a niche which almost feels too tiny to even work with all great companies and podcasts have started exactly like this there is no shame in starting out in fact if you do have that that's honestly I would say that's the best case scenario there is nothing better than a niche but again if you haven't and if you're like me that's totally fine as well sometimes niches can also develop while you go um and this is I guess also

00:06:53

while you go um and this is I guess also very true in the spirit of ready said do which is just all about getting started clicking record and uploading first video nothing else really matters the last thing I want to say around the topic of themes is that make sure you're able to list down your first 20 guests now I can understand if you're really not willing to talk to guests at all and just want to do solo casts that's totally fine most people I would think though would want to talk to guests so this would be a great step where you would just pause having Define your theme and then just try writing down 20 people that if you had to reach out to write this instant you would be able to

00:07:29

write this instant you would be able to to do that you can't be like oh yeah I'll find people on LinkedIn or if I start looking I'm sure I'll find somebody no that's not how this works and you you to stop literally stop and write down 20 names of people that you would be able to invite as guests and they would probably oblig finally once the initial planning is done that will tie the bow around stuff like how many initial episodes you want to do as solo cast versus with guests you want to choose a podcast format which is length frequency and style all of these are fairly open-ended it there is really no right answer to this I chose to do them weekly but if you want to start out as monthly that's totally fine you could

00:08:09

monthly that's totally fine you could always just make it more frequent as time goes by and the final step here is that if you have any podcasts that are already doing this for the niche that you decided you want to look them up and do a thorough job in terms of going over the type of episodes that they've made how they've been doing in terms of reach and Views and likes and engagement and also the type of guests that they've been bringing because if you if you see there's because if you see there are a few channels that are doing that already but really aren't doing that well that could mean one of two things a it's really fertile ground for you to do that really well or it's maybe just Juiced

00:08:49

really well or it's maybe just Juiced out to the max where you know when it's stuff like digital marketing and such uh there's just so much content on that already that it just becomes very difficult to start a net new podcast in 2025 around something like that this is not to say that don't do it if the if you want to choose your niche as digital marketing that's completely fine all I'm saying is there are specific tools that do a great job at making your research super easy when it comes to that one of the tools that I highly recommend for this is vid IQ it's a it's completely free although you could pay for the pro version but I personally don't have a lot of use for it it does the free

00:09:28

lot of use for it it does the free version is like really good as it goes I can show you um how it works so pretty much what it does is anytime you go to YouTube and I'll just pick the first thing that came on my YouTube which was resilient rat's Channel who is somebody that I've had as a guest actually on the podcast so what vid IQ does here is that for every channel so this is just the latest upload of resit rat's Channel he's a friend of mine big shout out go follow him guys even though he's not really a podcaster but what with IQ here does is it generates the associated vid

00:10:03

does is it generates the associated vid IQ SEO score for each video so you can see what the video tags were and how they did and why they did how they did so in this case I believe um raik could have done a better job writing the tags and then if you go on views it actually shows you for each video how it's doing in terms of views and then when the thumbnails were last updated so if so if I pick say one of Ali abd's videos and if I go to one of maybe his older ones so we'll just go here um yeah so we can see that normally he gets around 250k

00:10:37

see that normally he gets around 250k views but for this particular video he almost got close to a million so it's an outlier right it's a 3.5x it performed that much better the engagement was 3.3% and that's the that's how many people I have been watching it per hour so it's a really helpful tool even when you're doing uploads it helps you write your title it helps you come up with SE tag it's a really helpful tool if you're trying to do any sort of research at all say you're trying to look up digital marketing so if you just go on YouTube and search digital marketing it will show you the associated score so apparently my deduction was wrong because it says apparently that the score is high it what this means is that

00:11:19

score is high it what this means is that you're you're welcome to make videos on this 70 means that it's a ripe opportunity for you to make videos um even though the volume and competition are are kind of high but you know so yeah and it tells you all of the other information that you need um highest view have have been about 5 million those are the average subscribers who are the top channels for this search term um all of these channels I believe talk about digital marketing a lot and then it also shows you related opportunities so how to start a digital agency um it lets you download it as you know CSV to just look at all the keywords and Associated information you could also just just

00:11:59

information you could also just just search here how digital marketing agency so for this it's slightly lower given that there have been a medium volume as well as the competition is also medium when it comes to this but yeah apparently there's already videos it's funny how this video was made 9 months ago but it's for 2025 so continuing that brings us to chapter 3 which is essential tools this will be fairly short you actually don't need anything to get started if I'm being super honest my first 30 episodes or so were just completely off my phone I did buy the clip on levelar mics just off Amazon for like 20 bucks just to make the audio quality a little bit better but if I'm being really honest they didn't really even do that much then after that I gave in and got this

00:12:45

after that I gave in and got this microphone for a little more price it's still like 30 40 bucks nothing extravagant but there are tools that I can show you one of them that make it so ridiculously easy for you to have Studio grade audio quality that it will actually blow your mind that tool is simply podcast. adobe.com enhance what that lets you do is if you just upload any of your audio recordings from your podcast it will convert it to a really high quality Studio grade audio experience and it will truly blow you away and it's free and so in terms of tools and gear you're largely covered there's not a lot to really worry about here I'm very much a completionist over perfectionist it's okay to not start

00:13:25

perfectionist it's okay to not start with a professional video camera and a professional mic and all of this lighting setup that I've kind of accumulated over the months I pretty much started with nothing if you go and watch my first video it's just literally just my camera and that's it so now that naturally brings us to what it is that you will be using to record I highly recommend riverside. FM my channel pretty much would not exist without them it's so great because what Riverside does is it allows you to record locally what that means is say you're using your iPhone to record instead of your camera on your laptop which usually isn't the best quality what it does is while you're recording it uploads to the cloud directly while you're talking to your guest who is also connected so really

00:14:08

guest who is also connected so really you just use Riverside to interface with your guest the actual recording comes from your high quality device which is uploaded to the cloud what that means is your end product is very high quality 1080p if you have any iPhone after say 11 and it doesn't end there because once you're done recording what you can do here is you can just hit edit and it will take you to the entire transcript which would have generated itself so this is all completely autogenerated and say if you wanted to snip out a certain part say I don't want to include this line where I I'm I'm saying this doesn't really just apply to both all you do is Select that hit delete and then when I

00:14:48

Select that hit delete and then when I play this it'll just go from what can go into a successful prompt to applies more in general so it makes it extremely easy for you to edit out your content and you pretty much waste no time in terms of learning how to edit your videos how to cut and snip and all of those time consuming tasks it's simply as easy as just selecting something and hitting delete after you're done all you have to do is go to export here and then you choose your 4K quality normalize audio levels remove background noise and if you hit export video it will just generate that video for you which you can then directly upload to Youtube after having done the podcast Adobe enhance which is just pretty much this

00:15:28

enhance which is just pretty much this link all you have to go here is go here choose your files select whatever audio file you wanted to choose audio or video actually and then yeah it just enhances your speech for you making it completely unrecognizable to whatever you would have recorded using your iPhone or any other mic that you might have been using River Side however only allows one free video per month so chances are you will have to pay for that the annual fee I believe when I paid for it was around $120 including a discount code that I had I'm happy to link my affiliate code in the description below if you would like to use that again big big shout out to Riverside because without them my

00:16:06

to Riverside because without them my channel definitely would not exist okay so then that brings us to chapter 4 which is crafting your podcast identity so this is what arguably trips up a lot of people it can be really nerve-wracking to come up with a name design a logo design your cover art your brand identity guidelines there's a lot associated with this here and I'm not saying this to overwhelm you my goal here is just to tell you what you might be biting into when it comes to the name try to optimize for names that are at least three words or less it's just the most helpful in terms of getting your url your website and even if you just have to say your podcast a lot of times

00:16:43

have to say your podcast a lot of times to your friends and family and rela that's my first and biggest tip next you would want to go to Spotify or YouTube or wherever and make sure that it isn't already taken this isn't immediately a problem if it is that's totally fine because you'll see that a lot of just start and never make it beyond episode 2 so it's completely fine if it's not been taken you can still use that and go forward with that but of course ideally you want to use something that's totally unique and that doesn't exist currently now when it comes to the logo things get really tricky and I could potentially honestly make an entire episode just dedicated to the logo just because of how tricky it is personally I have no background in graphic design and I knew

00:17:24

background in graphic design and I knew nothing about it and I spent about 2 weeks trying to design my logo spending much multiple hours every single day trying to get to the best possible job I could do and I landed where I landed which I'll show you in a second I'm not the most proud of it but it got the job done and it was okay enough for me to get started I will eventually Rebrand that's my plan but for now this is great and I can show you here the path that I I went through and what I took to get to this point so I started here my original

00:17:55

this point so I started here my original plan was to call Ready Set do simple but cool cool which feels I don't know actually how I feel about that in retrospect but my tagline was going to be regular people remarkable stories and as you see that's why I have that kind of all around it oh and also guys in terms of graphic design canva is unbeatable I have the pro version but you can actually get really far with the unpaid or the free version as well highly highly recommend it it makes it very easy for you to design whatever it is that you're trying to design it now has AI features as well if you want to generate stuff a really underrated feature that I use almost every day is the image upscaler feature

00:18:37

every day is the image upscaler feature which allows you to just take any image so if I just select that and then if I go here to image upscaler and it can just I can choose this entire page to make it a higher or a more upscaled image so if I do that and then if I hit export um it it'll make it a higher resolution and Export it up to 16 the current quality although that is paid but you can still get up to 4X on the free version so while it does that um this is where I started and then I've kind of looked at name and then I realized simple but cool wasn't that good so I was looking at other stuff so maybe I came up with ready set and I

00:19:15

maybe I came up with ready set and I think I removed the do here that was my next version I was trying to have my face somewhere Incorporated I still clearly was sticking to the tagline then it started to look a little bit more like um what I have what I landed on currently which I'll flash here in just a second also this was done so if I do add to design it will add the higher resolution version and you can pretty much do that with faces that are blurry with image qualities that aren't as good it goes a really long way in terms of making stuff really sharp so I'll remove that for now and we'll keep going here so you can see how the color scheme was

00:19:53

so you can see how the color scheme was evolving I got in some triangles I don't know what's going on there um some inverted triangles to flip the status quo that's actually pretty close to what I eventually landed with I just needed a little bit more cleaning up to do which I was doing here this was one of the versions cuz I kind of wanted to signify the starting lines when it comes to this stuff some more triangles triangles some more additions and you know movements here finally coming back inching closer and then this is kind of what I landed with again like I said not the most proud of this could have definitely done much better if I had to do it now I would do it definitely differently um this width wasn't the

00:20:40

differently um this width wasn't the best idea you can barely even read it these two triangles are kind of funky I'm not sure what this medieval uh Mosaic pattern there is for anyway you get it not to beat up a dead horse but this stuff is pretty straightforward you can now you could just actually use claw which is something I enjoy doing a lot and um help me come up with a logo for my new podcast about trains say that's your you know Niche it will help you brainstorm um so yeah it's talking about visual themes that combine audio and trains uh Crossing signals railroad tracks minimalist line art art deco and then obviously um a really underrated tool for this is Pinterest also so if you just go on Pinterest you can set up

00:21:30

you just go on Pinterest you can set up boards you could look at stuff that you're trying to do um this was some of the ideas that I was bouncing around didn't really end up using any of them but these idea boards can go a long way in terms of um figuring out you know what you're trying to do even with your color schemes and such it's really helpful in terms of just trying to find out trains so if you just hit trains which give you a lot of art associated with trains that you could maybe use it's really good for inspiration and a lot of other really cool things so really recommend this stuff when it comes to crafting your brand identity and finally you want to write a brief description of what your podcast theme

00:22:09

description of what your podcast theme is and what it stands for again you could use AI to write this but remember to make it really short really succinct and to fully encapsulate what your theme is and what your podcast seeks to do because you could keep it open-ended but you would just have trouble I think associating or finding listeners just because it can be very difficult to associate with things that you don't even fully understand all right so now it's time to record your first episode that brings us to chapter 5 I'm actually not sure what chapter I'm on I've kind of lost track but it doesn't really matter when it comes to recording again Riverside just makes it really easy for you all you have to do is make an account find your studio link and share that with your guest once you do the

00:22:49

that with your guest once you do the guest will be able to hop on you'll be able to see them you'll just hit record go through your entire conversation and then hit end recording once it's done and then it'll take 2 minutes for it to process and generate the transcript and it will then be in front of you for you to look all the way through clean stuff up do whatever you want with that export that and then pretty much it'll be good to go there are options to export both video and or audio based on what you're trying to do if you're just wanting to upload to Spotify and don't want a YouTube podcast you could just download the audio and upload that and you could record the intro portion later and then

00:23:24

record the intro portion later and then kind of append those two towards the end I highly recommend doing it on YouTube as well just because the way Spotify Impressions work it's very difficult to come across new podcasts unless somebody recommends them or searches them for you YouTube's algorithm is much better when it comes to Discovery so I highly recommend that you do both video and audio in fact Spotify is now really bullish on doing video content as well so I've now started just uploading the same video file that I upload to Youtube on Spotify as well because they're trying to push more video content I think I've been seeing pretty decent engagement on Spotify what the Spotify back end looks like is that it just shows you your total all platform plays how many followers you have your last episode and just kind of some basic data

00:24:10

episode and just kind of some basic data around what you know how stuff has been doing then if you go to analytics by the way I'm fully okay sharing this stuff I you know don't really have anything to hide here but it shows you how many streams per start so that that basically means how many people started and they at least streamed for 60 seconds so in my case that's 50 hopefully trying to bump those numbers up can be better there for sure but yeah in the last 7 Days nine people have tuned in on average six uh plays per episode and then yeah so these are just kind some of the data that you can get in for all of this you want to go to creators.

00:24:45

this you want to go to creators. spotify.com it's very easy and it's obviously free to set up an account you just have to upload your name of your podcast upload your cover art and then once you upload your first episode you'll be good to go it's actually fairly easy I was going to show you how to do that but it's actually so easy that even a child could figure it out and then if you want to upload your first episode all you would do is new episode select a file and then whatever you select it'll just you'll just do next next next publish and voila it's uploaded and out there for anyone to see so now that you've published your podcast what you want to do next is that of course you're going to wait around and see how many people tune in and

00:25:22

and see how many people tune in and usually it will be crickets but don't get disheartened this is completely normal use your other existing social media wherever you have any following really to kind of put the word out that you've started and that you would appreciate some love and support I started with Instagram but the mistake I made was that I was just doing that on Instagram I now have a presence on Instagram LinkedIn YouTube as well as Twitter except when I first started I was really just doing Instagram which I don't really regret that much but I would have grown much faster if I was doing all four platforms right from the Geto l especially I want to call out is a goal mine when it comes to professional type

00:26:03

mine when it comes to professional type content so a lot of my episodes are around moving abroad or starting a new job or breaking into a certain type of job be it product management or data analytics or whatever the case may be it's really underrated because a lot of the content that you put out on Instagram usually isn't as suited for going viral when it comes to podcast Clips because people there are usually just trying to chill and they don't really want to be educated Lin crowd is a little different in that they want to get that information so that's your user base right there that already exists in addition to putting your content out in terms of the full episode I highly recommend that you use Riverside's Magic Clips capability to also pump out shorter form versions of your full episode throughout the week scattered in

00:26:48

episode throughout the week scattered in or month whatever the case might be to continue to engage your audience to do this all you have to do is go to your recording wherever you had recorded with your guest and then if you just hit Magic Clips generate here and then generate Clips it will sift through the entire track and automatically generate 9 is to 16 version so real format of Clips directly for you and then all you have to really do is just hit download and of course you can edit them as well you're not locked in just because Riverside generated a certain template you have to stick to that but yeah of course feel free to customize it to the way you want choose any other relevant

00:27:26

way you want choose any other relevant portions that you'd like and then continue you to upload through the week or month or whatever your frequency is on all platforms this is really critical and this is something I started doing way too late I just used to do my main episode per week and then kind of wait around for the views to come in which naturally was not the case but once I went back to uploading more weekly shots I found that the engagement definitely picked up and think of it this way even if you get one new subscriber per every shot that you post that's five new subscribers every week for 52 weeks that almost brings you to 200 subscribers that you would not have had before and then finally and then the final note on

00:28:05

then finally and then the final note on publishing is that you want to make sure you are is that you want to make sure you have your chapters which again Riverside generates for you you don't actually have to write every time script because it already generates a time stamp for you you just need to paste it into Spotify as well as YouTube this is very easy to do and there are a lot of tutorials as well as Google links that teach you how to do that so don't stress if you run into issues over there maybe I could make a Future video just around the publishing process but for now just as long as you have your description and your timestamps the last thing you will

00:28:39

your timestamps the last thing you will need here is just SEO tags my favorite thing to do is to just go on Claud and ask it to generate the tags for you you can just tell it that you can just paste the time stamps into cloud and ask it to generate SEO tags for YouTube and make sure you ask it to generate both short and longtailed SEO tags and then you can just paste them into YouTube as well as your description box VI IQ also helps you with telling you how good your tags are so if I were to take you behind the scenes of one of my videos where you write the title it shows you the title score so that one got a score of 80

00:29:12

score so that one got a score of 80 which is pretty good it also suggests some titles that some of them are kind of over the top top startup founder exposes his surprising funding secret I mean yeah it's kind of hit or miss you don't actually have to follow it you can just do your own it doesn't really matter you always want to start with tags because that's the first 200 characters that are really critical when it comes to that it vid IQ gives you an optimized score but this isn't that interesting because it says that your title isn't too long I have found that it's really it's not that big of a problem for your title to be too long it's kind of Hit or Miss so don't take this to literally it's just supposed to

00:29:49

this to literally it's just supposed to be a guide and then this is where your time stamps come in and then of course you want to generate your thumbnails which we will talk about next and then finally this is where you your tags go so as you can see it only allowed 500 characters and for whatever reason it isn't loading now but it actually generates the score of each of these tags so as you can see some of it is generating it just sometimes takes a while but yeah so that that's how you can verify whether your tags are even good and then once they are the final thing that is left is the topic of the thumbnail so when it comes to designing the thumbnail that is honestly its whole

00:30:26

the thumbnail that is honestly its whole own episode comp completely it's an insane hot watch between an art and a science I'm very proud to present here my first attempt at making a thumbnail ever you can see just how bad this is right I mean I don't need to even tell you this this is beyond this is almost a parody straight up but thankfully after that I had some help I had my nephew akan and his friend who helped out for me to make my first thumbnail and then you kind of you know once you have started here you kind of move from here the biggest takeaways here are that you want to make sure that your faces are really big and enlarged and very easy to

00:31:06

really big and enlarged and very easy to see because it's the first thing that human eyes land on and they kind of recognize um you want to make sure you have as few words as possible so this isn't actually even a good example because as you can see a lot of them are Brands which people recognize immediately but in terms of words you want to limit it as much as possible these are just some of my earlier thumbnails Nails that's just nothing this is actually my first one so you can see why it's bad and I'm breaking some of my own rules cuz you actually can't even see my face um this is slightly better except these small type of icons don't really work because remember that when you're seeing it on YouTube you will probably won't see it any bigger

00:31:48

will probably won't see it any bigger than this so if you're having trouble reading anything at this scale chances are nobody's going to be able to see that and the final thing I want to say here on this topic when it comes to your YouTube optimization is that just think of it this way if the user needs more than 1 second to understand exactly what your video is about after looking at your thumbnail and title they are not going to click it 1 second is the window that you have to completely and clearly convey what your video is about and if there is any confusion about it the person will just scroll past because remember there are eight other videos

00:32:26

remember there are eight other videos for them to choose from and when they're scrolling it's the same thing it's very difficult to get attention so make sure you use that one second that you have really really effective and then from here thankfully this stuff gets pretty easy after this it's really just a question of continuous iteration and getting better at every and each and every iteration from this point once you've published all you want to do is you make sure you have your momentum and you record your episodes consistently don't wait for each week to record if possible you can record multiple every week as well there's nothing wrong with that in fact you will thank yourself if you have some in the bank and you'll be able to breathe easy and sleep nicely at

00:33:07

able to breathe easy and sleep nicely at night once you've done your five you kind of just continue making sure you promote them you publish them go out to meet people in real life tell all your friends about it ask your friends to tell their friends about it put it up on social media remember you really have to own this stuff I used to struggle with this I actually still struggle with it if you just think of it in a way that you know this is something I have to do and it's kind of cringe so I don't actually want to do that so I'm just going to you know post and not tell anybody about it and it'll just be that and I'll just hopefully pray for people to see it and for it to blow up well it

00:33:41

to see it and for it to blow up well it doesn't work like that if you don't help it blow up it will never blow up and if you don't even believe in yourself why would anyone else ever do that so remember that whatever drove you to make the episode in the first place and put it out there is good enough for the whole world to see you've given a chance you should be getting up on those Rafters and shouting from those rooftops at each and every person to watch every second of content that you put out that's how much you need to believe in your content and if it's not as good that's just a motivation for you to make it that good and get to that point where you really feel comfortable telling everybody that hey I have a podcast this

00:34:20

everybody that hey I have a podcast this is what it's about I would love for you to check it out if you face any hesitancy in doing that chances are you have a lot of quality control to do and quality improvement to do so I would suggest that you start doing that immediately because that's what you want to blame here that's honestly pretty much all I had really all I want to end with is that as you're going through all of this keep in mind that you're obviously going to take away a lot of lessons along the way which is totally fine make sure you document them just because you learned a lesson and you thought about it in your head and then you completely forgot that's not going to help you make sure you write down all

00:34:55

to help you make sure you write down all of these methods all of your new learnings and again I cannot stress enough on the importance of iterating every single week that you do this or month whatever the case might be remember everything good in life comes from the effects of compounding and even if you can get 1% better every time you upload in no time I guarantee you that one of your videos will blow up and using that all of your other videos will blow up as well and you will be good to go finally the last thing I want to say is in terms of a call to action I'll drop a link below here and I want you all to sign up for that link if you want

00:35:28

all to sign up for that link if you want to ask me a personalized Q&A about this whole process I would love to work with you and Coach you into starting your own podcast whatever may be the topic and in whatever capacity I might help I'm really looking to give back to the community and I don't think there's a better way for me to do that than this if there are any specific instances here that you would want me to make a dedicated episode on please do feel free to let me know one of the things that I didn't mention was how to actually get the guests so I have a cold DM template for for that it works remarkably well I'm actually blown away by how well it works pretty much everybody that I've

00:36:04

works pretty much everybody that I've reached out to pretty much at least responds sometimes they'll be like no I'm not interested but at least they definitely respond if you want that template drop a comment here below and I will reach out to you and send that to you you could also reach out to me wherever there's a lot of ways to connect to me be it Instagram LinkedIn whatever you prefer or you could just email me but do get in touch I'm happy to share that cold DM template completely completely free of cost and honestly even if you aren't actually starting a podcast but just like to reach out to people and get them to reply to you that will still work I've curated it in a way over 40 iterations that it just works really really well

00:36:41

that it just works really really well but of course that's for online and it's very easy to find people online right based on the type of guests you're looking for you could go on Instagram you could go on LinkedIn you could just Google people it's not that hard to find people's emails or their social media accounts and then just hit them with that c DM so reach out to me if you need that and then finally for in-person recordings again that's a whole separate conversation Al together when it comes to the logistics of that because Riverside lets you do that but it's slightly tricky when it comes to that so what you want to do there is when you're meeting people in real life and are just up and about your life ask them if they

00:37:15

up and about your life ask them if they want to come on your podcast and normally they'll just say yes in which case again you're good to go I hope you enjoyed this episode really excited to drop my first experience doing this it was definitely nerve-wracking but I feel so so great having done this now because I know this is going to be really helpful for so many of you out there 2025 is the year you finally take your podcast dreams off the ground and remove the cover that they've been in this whole time I fully trust you to be able to do this you got this that brings us to the end of my first solo cast episode on how to start your podcast this was

00:37:49

on how to start your podcast this was honestly super nerve-wracking for me and I hope at least some of that was useful for you all out there if you would like to support me the easiest way to do that is by subscribing on YouTube and leaving me up to a festar rating on Spotify or any podcast app of your choice there are more links in the description for more direct ways to support me another thing that moves the needle a lot for me is you going and By Word of Mouth sharing what an incredible episode this was with all of your friends and family I hope you enjoyed catch you all in the next one new episodes every Wednesday
